橘 天敬｜Tenkei Tachibana

Profile

1906年 本名、中山義文。京都に生まれ、幼少期より九州福岡で 育つ。 1926年 画号を園部香峰として仏教美術研究に専心。 1933年 タイ、インド、ヨーロッパ各国に遊学。 タイ国立博物館に て個展開催。 1939年 横山大観画伯と共にイタリー政府より文化勲章贈られる。 1950年 画号を橘 天敬と改め、これより屏風絵の制作にかかる。 1962年 「富岳雲海之図」六曲一双屏風を芝白金迎賓館において 展示、ロバートケネディー氏に贈呈。氏没後、国立フリーア美術館に移館。 1965年 明治神宮参集殿にて個展“橘 天敬の芸術”開催。 1970年 東京美術倶楽部にて“橘 天敬障壁画展”開催。 1972年 ワシントンDC国立フリーア美術館に「静姿正観（風神） 至情霹靂（雷神）」収蔵。 1975年 三越本店7階大ホールにて個展“橘天敬の藝術”開催。 1977年 5月、駐仏日本大使館後援でパリ市ドロアン画廊にて “L’ART DE TENKEI TATHIBANA”開催。パリ市より芸術功 労賞（金メダル）授賞。 1980年 6月、米国テキサス州パンハンドル・ブレンズ歴史博物館 にて個展開催。 1984年 6月1日逝去。 1993年 10月より1ヶ月、英国国立大英博物館ジャパンギャラリーに於いて“橘天敬の藝術―Between Heaven and Earth”収蔵記念展開催。六曲一双屏風絵「和楽之図」 収蔵。 2004年 6月、逓信総合博物館にて「橘 天敬屏風絵展」開催。 2005年 9月、イタリア上院議会ジュティニアーニ宮殿に於いて 「橘 天敬芸術展」開催。 2006年 5月、東京美術倶楽部にて「橘 天敬生誕100年記念屏風絵展」開催。 2007年 4月、パリ市アテネ劇場にて市川團十郎丈らの協力を得、「橘 天敬屏風絵展」開催。 橘 天敬 2008年 4月、「アートフェア東京」に2005年以来、3回目の出展。 「文武之図」右隻展示。 2009年 7月、フジテレビ開局50周年記念映画「アマルフィ 女神の報酬」に桜の大屏風「清生楽々天地之間」（部分） など数点画像提供。     作品の主な収蔵先   海外：英国国立大英博物館 / 米国国立フリーア美術館 / 米国ネルソン・アトキンス美術館   国内：霧島神宮 / 池上本門寺 / 逓信総合博物館 / 明治神宮宝物殿 1906 Real name “Nakayama yoshifumi”. Born in Kyoto. Grew up in Fukuoka 1926 Had a painter name “Sonobe Koho”. Studied Buddhistic fine arts 1933 Studied in Thailand, India and Europe The exhibition at the Thai National Art Gallery."The Dawn of Menam", acquired by Thai National Art Gallery 1939 Awarded an Order of Cultural Merits by Italian Government, together with Taikan Yokoyama 1950 Changed his name to 'Tenkei TACHIBANA' Began to work on a series of screen paintings 1962 Presented Tenkei’s screen painting “Mount Fuji and Sea of Clouds”(painted 1952) to Mr. Robert F. Kennedy at Shiba Shirogame Guest House after exhibiting the painting to over three hundred dignitaries whose signatures were presented to Mr. Kennedy with the painting. After demise of Mr. Robert F. Kennedy, the above screen painting acquired by Freer Gallery of Art 1965 The exhibition “The Art of Tenkei Tachibana” at Meiji Shrine, Tokyo 1970 The exhibition “Screen Painting by Tachibana Tenkei” at the Tokyo Art Club, in Tokyo 1972 “Calm and Passion (The God of the wind Resting and the Thunder-God in Action)” painted in 1970, acquired by Freer Gallery of Art. Washington DC 1977 In May, The exhibition of “L’ART DE TENKEI TACHIBANA” supported by the Japanese Embassy in France at the Galerie Drouant in Paris, France. Awarded an Order of “Medal of Cultural Merit (Gold Metal)” by the City of Paris 1980 In June, The exhibition at Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, Canyon City, Texas. 1984 Demise on 1st June History of Tenkei Tachibana 1993 THE TACHIBANA TENKEI EXHIBTION “Tenkei’s Art-Between Heaven and Earth” at The Japanese Galleries of The British Museum from October 7th to November 7th A pair of six-ford screen painting “Peace & Concord” painted 1975, acquired by The British Museum in London 2004 In June, “Tenkei's Screen Painting” at Communications Musuems, Tokyo 2005 In September, “The Art of Tenkei Tachibana” at Palazzo Giustiniani of the Senate of the Republic, The Parliament of Italy 2006 In May, “Tenkei Tachibana: 100 Years Birth Memorial Exhibition” at Tokyo Art Club, Tokyo 2007 In April, “Tenkei Tachibana's Screen Painting Exhibition” at Athens Theatre in Paris, in cooperation with Danjuro ICHIKAWA 2008 In April, exhibited the right wing of “Picture of Literary and Military arts” at ART FAIR TOKYO.
